Middle School Sports Report: Ellerbe soccer sweeps Anson, Rockingham baseball wins

The Ellerbe boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, along with the Rockingham baseball team, earned wins on Tuesday.

Ellerbe soccer sweeps Anson
Defending their home field, the Ellerbe Middle School boys’ and girls’ soccer teams earned a sweep against visiting Anson Middle School.
The Wildcats collected their first win of the season, shutting out the Bearcats 6-0. Ellerbe scored two goals in the first half, courtesy of Adrian Zamora and Elen Fonseca.
To open up the second half, Zamora scored his second goal of the game. Rounding out the Wildcats’ final three goals were Cole Lambeth, Izzy De Jesus and German Fonseca.
With the win, the Ellerbe boys improved to 1-2 on the season.
The Lady Wildcats used a pair of goals from Mariana Gonzalez Aguilar to defeat the Lady Bearcats 2-1.
Ellerbe’s girls’ team is now 2-1 and both teams will play at Cordova Middle School on Wednesday.
Rockets rebound with win over Spring Hill
The Rockingham Middle School baseball team used a no-hitter from Caden Nolan to defeat Spring Hill 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday.
Nolan added 10 strikeouts to his line, and went 2-for-3 at the plate and recorded one run batted in.
Also contributing at the plate was Andrae Streeter, who batted 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs. 
Preston Fann collected an RBI and a base hit, Cameron Quick brought in a run on a sacrifice fly and Carter Visingard finished the day 1-for-2. 
The Rockets (3-2) return to action with another game on Monday.
