ROCKINGHAM — Richmond Senior High’s Marching Raiders will have an easier time quenching their thirst this fall thanks to a local grocery store.
Food Lion Store No. 0930 on East Broad Avenue donated two pallets of water — with 84 cases on each pallet — to the band Thursday evening.
“Store Manager Heather Quick said she wanted to help support our Marching Raiders by giving them something they could use,” said Randy Stubbs, president of the booster club Raider Band Fans, thanking Quick.
Stubbs added that his group is still seeking donations and sponsorships to help support the band.
Money raised by sponsorships will help send the band to competitions, away games and pay for equipment and pre-game meals. There are plans to send the band to a competition at Carowinds this year, Stubbs said.

Richmond County Schools has recently highlighted on its Facebook page community contributions from von Drehle, Modern Woodman, Day Springs Lodge No. 44, Beverly Hills Baptist Church, Hamlet Review Lodge No. 105 and others.
