ROCKINGHAM — Craft and retail vendors will line the sidewalks of East Washington Street Thursday afternoon as Affair on the Square returns after a two-year hiatus.
The biannual “social sidewalk festival”, sponsored by the Rockingham Downtown Corporation, will feature “exhibitors and artisans” as customers stroll down the street, according to a poster.
The most recent Affair on the Square was held in October of 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Several downtown businesses will also be drawing for gift certificates and merchandise.
Music will echo down the street from DJ Eric Whitfield while guitarist Chuck Smith accompanies singer Nikki Fletcher at Harrington Square. Smith and Fletcher’s Safety Committee band mate Mervyn Celso will also be performing at Hudson Brothers.
The other restaurants — Pattan’s Downtown Grille and Henry’s Uptown Cafe — will offer dinner specials, according to the poster.
Balloons will mark the event shopping spots.
Affair on the Square is scheduled to run from 5-8 p.m.
Although some forecasts are calling for a 50% chance of rain around the start, the National Weather Service predicts showers should hold off until after 11 p.m. However, winds are expected to be around 15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.
